Finding Your Tribe: A New Affordable Online Group for Your Weight Loss Medication Journey

Starting a weight loss medication like Mounjaro or Wegovy can feel like a revolution. For many, the silencing of "food noise" is a relief we didn't think was possible. But as the physical weight begins to shift, many of us find that an emotional ripple effect starts to take place. You might feel a bit exposed, or perhaps a little lonely in your experience, even if the results are what you hoped for.

Always consult with your prescribing physician or a qualified healthcare professional regarding your medication, dosage, and physical health. Therapy is a supportive adjunct to medical treatment, not a replacement for clinical medical supervision.
It is common to feel like you are navigating this path in isolation. While your GP or pharmacist handles the clinical side, the injections and the scales, there is often a gap where the psychological side of the transition lives. This is why I am so passionate about creating a space where we can gather, share, and find a soft landing together.
Why a group? Why now?
There is something incredibly healing about realizing you are not the only one. In my clinical work, I’ve seen how transformative it can be when people on a similar path come together. It moves the experience from a "secret project" to a shared human journey.
Taking GLP-1 medications isn't just about what you eat; it's about how you relate to the world. When the way you look changes, or the way you spend your evenings (without the constant hum of cravings) shifts, it can leave a quiet space that feels unfamiliar.
Group therapy provides:
Validation: Hearing someone else say, "I feel that too," can lower your cortisol levels faster than any deep breathing exercise.
Shared Wisdom: Learning how others navigate social events, body image shifts, or comments from family.
Reduced Stigma: A non-judgmental space where the "easy way out" narrative is replaced with the truth: that this is a medical tool for a complex condition.
Affordability: Providing high-quality, professional psychological support at a price point that feels accessible.

The Details: Our 6-Week Online Support Group
I wanted to create something that felt both expert-led and deeply approachable. This group is designed to be a small, intimate circle where you feel safe enough to be yourself.
Start Date: Tuesday, June 25th.
Time: 6:00 PM (UK Time).
Duration: 6 weeks.
Format: Online via a secure video platform.
Investment: £90 for the full 6-week block (that's just £15 per session).
Facilitator: Me (Katie). I bring over 15 years of clinical experience as a dual-accredited therapist and someone who truly understands the GLP-1 journey.
This is more than a "check-in." It is a structured, therapeutic space where we will use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and person-centred approaches to help you navigate the shifts in your mind, not just your body.
What we might explore together
While the group will be shaped by the people in it, I have a few "anchor points" that I believe are vital for anyone on this medication journey:
The Identity Shift: Who am I if I’m not "the one who struggles with food"?
Body Image and the Mirror: Learning to live in a body that is changing faster than your brain can keep up with.
Navigating Relationships: How to handle the "well-meaning" comments and shifts in social dynamics.
Managing the "Quiet": What to do with the time and energy that used to be consumed by food noise.
Fear of Regain: Addressing the underlying anxiety about the future and building lasting psychological resilience.
Gentle question for you:When you think about your journey so far, what is the one thing you wish you could talk about without fear of being judged?
This is your space
I am a big believer in "meeting you where you're at." That means I want this group to serve your needs.
I would love to hear from you:
Topics: Are there specific themes you’d like us to cover in the 6 weeks? Whether it’s emotional eating, social anxiety, or self-compassion, let me know.
Timing: I know 6pm on a Tuesday won't work for everyone. If you are interested but need a different day or time (perhaps a lunchtime slot or a later evening), please do tell me. Your feedback helps me plan future groups.
Questions: If you're feeling nervous about joining a group, please reach out. I am happy to chat through how it works to ensure it feels like a safe fit for you.
You can comment below or send me a direct message here if you'd prefer to keep it private. I read every message, and I value your input more than I can say.
Common experiences in the "Tribe"
Often, people come to me feeling like they are "doing it wrong" because they still feel anxious or sad despite the weight loss.
Take "Sarah" (anonymized), who shared that she felt a sense of grief for her old self. She missed the comfort food gave her, even though she didn't want the cravings back. In a group setting, three other people immediately nodded. Sarah realized she wasn't failing; she was just processing a major life transition.
That is the power of finding your tribe. It turns "What is wrong with me?" into "Oh, this is just a part of the process."

How to book your place
Because I keep these groups small to ensure everyone has space to speak and be heard, places do tend to go quickly.
You can book your spot directly through the Greenlight Therapy website.
If you’re not sure if group therapy is right for you, or if you’d prefer 1:1 support first, I also offer individual online therapy and walk-and-talk sessions in Birmingham.
You are not alone
The journey of health and weight loss is often painted as a solo trek, a test of willpower and individual strength. But I believe we are at our strongest when we are connected.
Whether you join us on June 25th or simply reach out to say hello, please know that your feelings are valid, your journey is important, and you don’t have to do this by yourself.
Ready to find your tribe?
I can’t wait to meet you and support you through this next chapter.
Warmly,
Katie
